Step 3: Washing/Drying Exterior
|
What's needed:
- Quality wash mitt or sponge
- Eagle One Bucket-Free Car Wash or Eagle One Car Wash
- One large bucket (if you are using regular car wash)
- Chamois, synthetic chamois or soft terry towel
- Water hose (with optional adjustable spray nozzle)
Use a quality car wash like Eagle One Bucket-Free or Eagle One Car Wash. Since household dish soap is designed to cut grease from dishes, it will strip the wax from your car's finish. If possible, park car in a cool, shady spot if it is warm. If you are using the traditional method, wash one section at a time to help keep soap residue from drying on the paint. Pour approximately 1 ounce of car wash per gallon. Spray a strong jet of water into bucket to fill bucket and activate foam.
If you are using Eagle One Bucket-Free Car Wash, rinse car and spray directly on to each section as you wash and rinse clean. Rinse your sponge or mitt as you work each section of your car.
Important: Wash car from the top down. Since more dirt collects near the bottom of your car, it is important to clean the lower sections last so dirt does not drag across your paint. Once washing is complete, dry car with a soft terry towel or chamois (we prefer a synthetic chamois).
Tips:
- To minimize the chance of scratching the paint,
use the two-bucket method. One bucket contains soapy
water and the second bucket should be filled with
clean water. The clean water bucket is for rinsing
your wash mitts or sponges each time before dipping
them back into the soapy water. However, for an easier, deep-clean wash without the hassle of a bucket, use Eagle One Bucket-Free Car Wash.
- For quick waxing, use Eagle One Wax
As-U-Dry prior
to drying. See "Quick Waxing" section for details.
This will also speed the drying process since Wax
As-U-Dry actually sheets water from your car when
it is sprayed on.
